BROKSKAT GRAMMAR
N.Ramaswami

Sentence. But there are differences. In Hindi -ne is added to the subject only when the transitive verb is in the past. More-over, unlike Hindi the verb in Brokskat does not agree with the gender-number of the object but agrees with that of the subject.

As mentioned above, the nominative case marker is not added when the verb is intransitive.

sita sukulaRa bya:li
     1            2            3
‘Sita goes to school’
           1       3               2

However, there are two intransitive verbs which permit the use of this case marker.
badis ‘to run’
Ra:zis ‘to speak’
These two are intransitive verbs because they do not take objects.

ma-sa badiyu:s
    1                    2
 ‘I am running’
   1               2
ba-sa badiyenes
     1                 2
‘we are running’
  1                2
ma-sa Ra:ziyu:s
      1              2
 ‘I am speaking’
    1                 2
mi-ya badet
       1            2
 ‘I ran’
     1    2
mi-ya Ra:zit
        1          2
 ‘I spoke’
  1       2

2.1.4.2. Accusative Case:

The accusative case defines the object. The marker for this case is -Ra. It is added when the object is animate. It is not added when the object is inanimate.

masa sina-Ra skiyu :
1          2                   3
‘I see the child’
   1     3               2
masa ti-Ra skiyu :
     1           2         3
 ‘I see you’
1    3      2
