13. Our poojas
1. We do Goriya pooja1 seven days in the month of Vaishakh (April-May) till the day of Chena2 (When Goriya is immersed). 2. If any person is sick during this period he cannot hold the pooja.
1. Goriya pooja is a major festival of Tripuris. Like other major festivals, it is a community celebration.
2. Chena is the seventh day of Goriya pooja when the images of gods are thrown into water.
3. Those who live on farming build an altar; 4. install Burasa,3 5 and worship chomtirok.4 6. We should install many other gods. Then we offer bala at the huk.5 8. After offering bala. We eat food. 9. We should worship all the gods. 10. Then we should worship may-luma6 Mahadep, Paluma,7 Nishukali, Bhadrakali,8 Chomtirok and all the other gods that we Tripuris worship. Those we are rich, offer Mamita pooja9 and offer feast to all. 11. We should eat together as we do for Goriya pooja.12. Kharchi pooja10 is celebrated during the month of Ashadh (May-June). 13. This is the time when we worship our fourteen gods. 14. Our King’s wife performs this

6 .May-luma is the goddess of rice, Lakshmi.

8. Nishukali and Bhadrakali are the forms of the goddesses of protection.
9 .Mamita pooja is a harvest festival of Tripuris. Different kinds of dishes and beer made of mani
which is a kind of red rice, are offered to the gods in the cups of bananaa leaves.
10. Kharchi pooja is another major festival of the Tripuris. It is also a community celebration. The fourteen gods that are worshipped are said to be: 1. Hara (Shiva) 2. LimA# (Parvati) 3. Hari 4. MA# (Kali) 5. BA#ni (Saraswati) 6. KumA#ra (Kartikeya) 7. Garapati 8. Bidhu (moon) 9. kA# (Brahma) 10. Abadhi (sea) 11. Ganga 12. Sekhi (fire) 13. KA#ma 14. HimA#dri.
