The density of population in
Kodagu as per 1971 Census is 92 persons per square kilometre,
whereas the state average for Karnataka is 153 persons
per square kilometre. Note that the population of the
district registered decrease from 1911 to 1941 and remained
more or less constant during 1921-41. Note also the tremendous
increase in population from 1951 onwards. Reasons are
beyond the scope of this investigation. |
