1.4.	Phonemic distribution
1.4.1.	Distribution chart : Vowels
It has been pointed out (1.1.1.), that both short and long vowels contrast. An examination of the distributional chart shows that the short vowel phonemes occur in all the positions i.e., the short vowels occur initially, medially and finally. But the long vowel phonemes do not occur in all the positions. They occur initially and medially. In the final position, no long vowel phoneme occurs. In the initial position also, /i:/ and /a:/ occur and /e:/, /u/ and /o:/ do not occur. All the long vowel occur medially.

1.4.3.	Distributional chart : Consonants
A glance at the distributional chart of consonants reveals that the voiceless stops and fricatives occur initially, medially and finally. However the voiceless fricative sound h is an exception to this generalization. It occurs initially and medially but it does not occur finally. The voiced stops and fricative do not occur finally and they occur in the initial and medial positions only (with an exception of -d in po:stka:rd). The aspirated voiceless stops and affricates also occur initially and medially and not finally. The generalizations stated may be shown as follows.
