The Negative
The negative has five markers in Mao naga. They are 1. ho/hro, 2. lo shu, 3. sho, 4. (o)mo,
a free form and 5. mo which becomes morphophonemic ally ma preceding a word with a nonlow initial vowel.

3.4.13.1. ho/hro

a.

ho ‘be not’. This lexicalised form is in denotative free variation with the (phrasal) bu mo, the phrasal free variant being more polite than the brusque lexical(ised) free variant. Connotatively or emotively they are not free variants.
