Work on the Kuvi language was started in 1971. The data were collected
during two field trips to Orissa in 1971 and 1972 by Dr. B. Ramakrishna
Reddy who subsequently left the Institute. The present author who later
joined the Institute checked the data and collected additional data on
dialect variation during a field trip in 1973. The grammar was written
thereafter.]
I wish to acknowledge the help and co-operation which has been extended

of the Secretary of Education, Govt. of Orissa ; officers of the Education
Dept., Koraput District, and Sri Gopinath Mohanty, Bhuvaneshvar, for their

Udayanth Sauta of Laxmipur, Butti and Kadaraka Gopalan of Muniguda must

on the various dialects.
