All those sentences which are not stative in content are called active.
 
     netum dak valo
     ‘we come here’
 
      hala hadak arjap
     ‘he stands there’
 
      na lothe theni conaji
      ‘you should eat two bananas’
 
The declarative sentences are statements about the subject.

Interrogative
 
The interrogative sentences are questions which evoke a reply from the hearer. Two types of interrogative sentences are distinguished, viz., Yes-No type and wh- type.

The first type of interrogatives elicit the answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. The answer is an agreement or denial of the question. This interrogative is formed by adding the particle ma to the verb.
 
     nalitum damjima
     ‘will you go?’
 
     latum hemchi doma ]
     latum hemchi kedoma ]
     ‘are they at home?’
 
     hem ihum na loloma
     ‘have you got a house?’
 
     na hem ihum doma
     ‘do you have a house?’
 
     la tebulma
     ‘is it a table?’
 
     ne bajar dam?unma
     ‘can I go to the market?’
 
     ne bajar damtamema
     ‘may I go to the market?’
 
The second type of interrogatives are formed with interrogative pronouns and adjectives.
 
      nali men kopi
      ‘what is your name?’
 
      homoy koanlo
      ‘how much is the time?’
 
      la pilo pupo
      ‘what is this called?’
 
      la komatlo
      ‘who is he?’
 
      la konatpenchi keva
      ‘where has he come from?’
 
      napichi kedam
      ‘why are you going?’

Imperative
 
The imperative sentences indicate an order or command for the listener to perform. The imperative is expressed by adding the imperative markers -non, -tha, or -tu to the verb.

pupejo-non ‘speAak slowly’
hadak damnon

‘go there’
