Conditional

It indicates that the action mentioned by the finite verb is conditioned by the action mentioned by the first verb. It is expressed by adding -te to the verb.

      ok dote an come
‘the meal is good to eat if there is meat’

      la valote ne dampo
‘I shall go if he comes’

      ne klemlote ale lopo
‘if I work, I will get the benefit’

      nadak dopote ne dampo
‘if you will stay here, I will go’

The conditional is also expressed by another form -tik but it is added to the negative form of the verb. The conditional clause precedes the main clause in both the cases.

      ne vavetik nadamri
‘don’t go if I do not come’

       an cocetik megjari
       ‘don’t sleep unless you eat’

       ne vavetik nadak dotha
‘you stay here until I come’

Temporal

There are two temporal forms ahut and ako. ahut indicates that the action mentioned by the finite verb takes place simultaneously at the time of action mentioned by the temporal clause. ahut occurs after the verbal noun.

The temporal clause precedes the main clause.

na ne ro kedamji ahut nechopi aphan vannon
‘when you go to my village (at the time of your
going to my village), bring my daughter’

ne bajar kedam ahut ne jipro aphan theklo
‘while I was going to the market (at the time of
my going to the market), I saw my friend’

      ne keklem ahut arni cho?o
‘at the time of my working, the Sun was very hot’

ako occurs after the negative form of the verb and indicates that the action mentioned by the finite verb takes place before the action mentioned by the non-finite verb take place.

     na vane(y)ako ne valo
(when you did not come, I came)

      ‘I cam before you came’
      la coce(y)ako ne colo
(when he did not eat, I ate)

      ‘I ate before he ate’
      megjaje(y)ake ne an colo
(when I did not sleep, I ate the meal)
‘I ate the meal before I slept’

-an, -anta, ahutan and ahutanta indictae that the action mentioned by the finite verb will take place until the action mentioned by
