A word in a language is a minimum free form. A word
may be a simple word or a compound word or a complex
word.A compound word may be formed by the combination
of two or more simple words to form a new word. A
complex word may be formed by the combination of one
free morpheme or word and one or more bound morphemes;
sometimes, two or more bound morphemes combined to
form a complex word.

1. A simple word, in Bhumij, may be a noun or a
verb or an adverb. In Bhumij, there are many simple words which could be used both as nouns as well as verbs.
For example, the simple word duraN
‘sing’ which could be used as noun also which may mean ‘song’; the word kami
‘work’ is a noun, which could be used as verb also which will mean ‘to
work’; the word jagar ‘language’ could be used
as verb also which will mean ‘to speak’ ‘to discuss’ etc. However,
there are words which could be sued only as nouns or only
as verbs. The simple words in Bhumij are given below :
