Chapter 3 Noun Morphology
At the outset, the noun stems in Urali are classified into two broad heads: Pronouns and Inherent or Simple nouns. Pronouns are further subdivided into personal and derived pronouns and, under each subdivision, the various categories used are presented with examples. Simple or the inherent nouns include the human the nonhuman nouns and the derived or the noninherent noun stems of Urali are further classified into nine types on the basis of the gender and number suffixes they take.
The different cases identified in Urali with their respective case morphemes are given with suitable examples in full sentences explaining the case relationships. At the end of the chapter, the derivative suffix in Urali which is a bound form and can take both masculine and feminine markers, is presented, following which both the cardinal and ordinal forms including the numeral stem alternants are separately dealt with.
Chapter 4 Verb Morphology
The chapter on verb morphology starts with the classification of different verb stems on the basis of the past tense markers they take. The transitive and intransitive verb stems are further classified into different categories depending on their behaviour while transitivising the verb or while the verb functions as an intransitive form.
Further, in this chapter, the various grammatical categories such as causatives, imperative which includes Imperative singular and Imperative plural, two tenses found in Urali, namely, past and non-past, negatives, infinitive, hortative, permissive, participle forms, participial noun, verb noun, temporal, Conditional and Prohibitive are presented with suitable examples.
Person, gender and number suffixes, in verbal concord are discussed with illustrations.
Under the complex verbs, both aspects and models are discussed. Verb stems having alternants are dealt with separately, with illustrations and the occurrence of the alternant forms.
The descriptive statements on verbal derivatives, different kinds of adjectives and adverbs are explained, followed by the discussion on the type of clitics and particles occurring in Urali.
Chapter 5 Morphophonemics
A morpheme may occur with a single phonemic shape or in more than one phonemic form. In this chapter, the various morphophonemic changes found in Urali are discussed, highlighting the place of occurrence of the phoneme in question which involves change in the continuous speech. In short, this chapter presents a structural description of the Urali morphophonemics. Different morphophonemic rules are given in sequence and, whenever a particular rule or rules operate, in the illustration given in the body of the analysis, reference is given then and there quoting the rule number given in this chapter.
