| 1.12.1. Social Structure |
| Uralis, an endogamous ethnic community, are a patriarchal society; they practice patrimony and are not polygamic. Clan exogamy is strictly adhered to and the marriages violating this is considered incastuous. |

1.12.2 Clan |
| There are totally twelve clans among the Uralis and usually in one hamlet persons belonging to only one particular clan is noticed. Following are the names of these twelve clans. |

| Inter marriages outside the clan are not objected to. Among these 12 clans, only persons belonging to `sambarä’ and `pe:radavä’are considered as `ja:tti’ which means those who mediate the talk for the marriage. |
