3.3.1.
Classification of Adjectives


       Adjectives in Purki can bae classified into two categories : (i) basic and (ii) derived. Those adjectives which belong to the basic category are not derived from other grammatical categories. As the term implies the adjectives which belong to the derived category are derived from other grammatical categories. The adjectives can be further classifeid as adjectives of Quality and Quantity. This distinction is based on the criterion distributional differences.

3.3.1.1.
Adjectives of Quality


      The adjectives of Quality, in a noun phrase construction, precede the head nouns. The demonstrative adjectives are not included under this category. They also precede the head nouns.

In a noun phrase construction, more than one adjective may occur.

     In a noun phrase construction in which both the demonstrative and quality adjectives occur, the demonstrative adjective precedes the quality adjective.
