The occurrence of nasalized vowels in Bhumij is very limited. In spite o that, the nasalized and oral vowels are in contrast. With a few examples as contrasting pairs, I have established , ^ and õ as phonemes. However, the nasalized


vowels ĩ and ũ occur in very few words as in hĩsa and u) n t. So, they could not be established as phonemes.
