I owe much to my informants Sri Masiya and Sri Beteram of the village Nendar, Abujhmar Hills, Bastar district, Madhya Pradesh, whose speech formed the basis of this Grammar. My appreciations for the understanding, patience and cooperation they have shown.
Many improvements resulted from the constructive criticisms of Dr. E. Annamalai, Professor-cum-Deputy Director, CIIL, Mysore. I am very thankful to him.
Dr. Francis Ekka, Professor-cum-Deputy Director, CIIL, Mysore, made the invaluable contribution of going through the earlier version of this work and discussing with me every point that did not seem clearly presented or fully thought through. However, responsibility for the formulation presented here must remain my own.
I am grateful to Dr. D.P. Pattanayak, Director, CIIL, Mysore, for his encouragement and guidance.
I thank Dr. P.S. Subrahmanyam, Professor, CAS in Linguistics, Annamalai University, for his kind permission to reproduce a table from his book Dravidian Verb Morphology, Annamalainagar, Annamalai University, 1971, Pp.397-402.
I thank Sri V.D. Agnihotri, the then District Organiser, Tibal Welfare, Narainpur, Bastar District, Madhya Pradesh, for his help and guidance during my field work.
My appreciation to Sri V. Gopal for the maticulous preparation of the art-pulls. My thanks to Sri M.G. Kanakram, Assistant Director (Admn.) and Incharge CIIL Press, Sri H.L.N. Bharati, Asst. Editor and the staff of the press for their unfailing efforts in the neat printing of the book.
