7.2.0. Verb Stem Allomorphs
7.2.1. The stems ending in the vowel -i: change the final vowel into -e: before the negative suffix -o:, before the agentive suffix -wa:l and before the prohibitive suffix -ma:. See the following examples:
ki:na: ‘to do’
ke:wo:n ‘I don not do’
ke:wa:l ‘one who does’
ke:ma: ‘do not do’
hi:na: ‘to give’
he:wo:n ‘I do not give’
he:wa:l ‘one who gives’
he:ma: ‘do not give’
7.2.2. Before the negative suffix -o:, the final consonants -n, -m and - verb stems are geminated.
han ‘to go’
hann-o:n ‘I do not go’
un ‘to drink’
unn-o:- ‘I do not drink’
mam ‘to sell’
mamm-o:-n ‘I do not sell’
‘to cook’
a-o:-n ‘I do not cook’
7.2.3. Stems ending in -n change the final nasal into -h and their preceding short vowels become long vowels before the present tense suffix -in.
Examples:
pun ‘to know’
pu:h-in-an ‘I know’
tin ‘to eat’
ti:h-in-an ‘I eat’
in ‘to say’
i:h-in-an ‘I say’
un ‘to drink’
u:h-in-an ‘I drink’
